Start with the regular MTProto proxy: it works in any Telegram version. If it does not connect, try WebProxy — it runs over port 443 like ordinary HTTPS and already works on all platforms.
The proxy is being set up — meanwhile fresh proxies are posted in the channel: @proxii
How to connect a Telegram proxy
A Telegram proxy is added with a link, so no extra app is needed. Press the button above and Telegram opens with a short window that shows the server, the port and the secret. Confirm it and the messenger starts working through the proxy.
- Press “Connect in one tap”. On a computer you can scan the QR code with your phone instead.
- In Telegram press “Connect Proxy”.
- Check the settings: the server should show the status “connected”. Step-by-step guides: iPhone, Android. On Telegram Desktop it is Settings, Advanced, Connection type.
The proxy works only inside Telegram. Your browser, mail and other apps keep using the network as before, so nothing else slows down.
MTProto proxy or WebProxy
MTProto proxy is Telegram's own proxy type: a t.me/proxy link with a server, a port and a secret. It works in every version of the app — start with it.
WebProxy is a separate proxy link. The connection goes over port 443 and looks like an ordinary HTTPS website, so it often gets through where a regular proxy is cut. It works on all platforms in the current version of Telegram. You can add both and switch between them in the proxy settings.

Mobile networks in Russia may only allow whitelisted sites, and a proxy will not pass in that mode. If Telegram works over Wi-Fi but not over mobile data, that is almost certainly the reason. Switching servers will not help. A VPN will. Posts in the @proxii channel carry a button to the Telegram Proxy · VPN bot, where both a VPN and a personal proxy are available.
If it fails on Wi-Fi as well, press Connect again for a fresh link, try WebProxy, update Telegram, and turn off any other VPN or proxy while you test.

Questions
Is the proxy really free?
Yes. The proxy is free and needs no sign-up. It is shared, its speed is limited, and Telegram shows a sponsored channel while it is on. A personal proxy with its own server and no ads is available in the Telegram Proxy · VPN bot; the button to it is under the posts in the @proxii channel.
Do I have to join the sponsored channel?
No. The channel is only displayed in Telegram while the free proxy is enabled. You do not need to subscribe.
Can the proxy read my messages?
No. The proxy passes on Telegram traffic that is already encrypted. It sees your IP address and the fact that you connect to Telegram, not the content of your chats.
Why does it work on Wi-Fi but not on mobile data?
Mobile networks sometimes allow only whitelisted sites. Proxy servers are left off that list, so the connection is cut before it gets to one. In that case a VPN is the way to go; posts in the @proxii channel have a button for a VPN trial.
